AWARDS Lantern Award -- The 2000 Back to School Program received a Lantern Award of Excellence from the Southern Public Relations Program in July, 2001. The award was in the category Special Public Relations Program - Short Term. Margaret McDonald Journalism Award -- The Louisiana Legislature's 2002 Back to School Program received the Margaret McDonald Journalism first place award for community or institutional relations. The award was presented by the Louisiana Press Women. By receiving this award, the program was automatically entered in the National Federation of Press Women's national competition which will be announced in September.
